A seven year old girl was recently awarded €6,624 after reaching a settlement following an incident where she lost a front tooth in an accident on a bouncy castle.
The supervisors had moved away from the bouncy castle at the time the child was struck. The tooth became discoloured after a number of days and had to be removed thereafter.
It was argued that liability would be hard to prove as lack of supervision would have to be established. Furthermore their evidence was that the discolouration was due to bleeding into the crown and that in fact it had been removed 1 & ½ years prematurely.
The award of €6,624 was approved by the court, as is required in cases involving a minor.
